China attaches great importance to the localization of high-end medical devices

At this year's two sessions, Wu Mingjiang, member of the CPPCC National Committee and former vice president of the Chinese Medical Association, submitted a proposal to "comprehensively promote the promotion, innovation and development of medical devices in China". The proposal puts forward some suggestions on the basic research of medical devices, the construction of standard system, the effective combination of production and demand, and the encouragement of the development of domestic medical devices.

Wu Mingjiang said that by the end of 2015, there were more than 14000 medical device manufacturing enterprises in China, of which nearly 90% had a production scale of less than 20 million yuan, only more than 300 had a production scale of more than 100 million yuan, and more than 2600 were able to produce higher-end products.

By strengthening the top-level design, building a communication platform for production and demand, and promoting the interactive communication and scientific and technological research between production, learning, research and medicine, relevant government departments have made a number of core equipment and key parts localized, and effectively increased the market share of some domestic medical devices. At the same time, we should strengthen the research on the basic and important engineering technology of the industry, and strengthen the industrial application engineering technology research and service capacity building of the special manufacturing equipment, testing equipment, process technology, reliability research, stability research and so on required for the mass production of medical devices.
